Dreaming with Intentions
Dream Recall
When I was a little girl, around 8 or 9, I had a dream of a giant house fire. I dreamt that it was a house about half a block away, and I remember seeing the structure completely engulfed with flames. I recall being able to hear the sirens while I slept. Even now, as I am writing this, a forgotten memory is being brought forth of watching myself in my dream, standing in the window in a white nightgown, looking out at an amber glow on my street.
The next day, while going to school, I saw that the house I had dreamt about had burned completely to the foundation.
I had a firehouse at the very top of my street, which also housed paramedics, so it is very probable I heard the sirens while I slept. But it wouldn’t explain how I knew the exact location and that it was a large structure fire, and not a medic or police call nearby. We also lived in a busy city, so it was pretty common to hear sirens in the middle of the night.
This dream has stuck with me until now, and I think we remember certain things to serve as conscious reminders of what we’re capable of. At least, this feels like the case for me and this particular dream.
Our subconscious journeys while dreaming can show us where we are healing, what is releasing, what we are working towards, and what we are learning. We are unlimited beings and our dreams show us just how unlimited we are.
When we wake up from these vivid experiences, it can feel like we are living in scenarios that don’t quite fit this reality. We can live different lives while we sleep and be shown old ones and future lifetimes to come.
Upon waking, those vivid experiences can begin to shift and fade as our current reality kicks in. Our minds start becoming aware of what is going on and can hit the shut-off valve before we are ready. Sometimes, this is a method of protection to keep us safe from possible dangers or feelings we may not want to experience in our waking lives.
Our intuition and souls lead us onwards and point us to what we need to know while our minds can go into protection mode. The good news is, this can change!
The other news is that you will have to do some internal emotional work in the process to get the message across that you are safe. Safe to dream, safe to know things, and safe to experience your own psychic abilities and senses.
I do a lot of energy work, including communication with my spiritual guides to track and bring forth the blockages and wounded parts that prevent me from seeing and experiencing what I want.
While there is tremendous value in Shamanic practices for me, writing and journaling are very effective tools alongside it.
Before having any conscious spiritual practice, I would keep a dream journal next to my bed with a pen, and as soon as I would wake up, I wrote everything down that I could remember. This became easier over time, and soon enough, I could remember every detail of my dream. I was inundated with information, but most of it, I found was excess that was not providing me with anything useful that I could use in my waking life.
There was an underlying question I needed to get to, which was not available to me at the time.
And the question was, what do I really want to know?
Seems simple. But I was transfixed with dreamworld adventuring and new discoveries. Which isn’t wrong, by the way! I just needed to refocus and use my abilities on what was important to me.
So before you go to bed tonight, ask yourself… what do you really want to know?
